Powerboating
Courses
Powerboating
has become more popular as a leisure activity. We have courses
to teach powerboat owners, instructors, club safety boat
drivers, rescue services and other commercial users - so
call us today, we are sure to have the course for you!!
"A powerboat is any open craft driven by power"
This includes anything from a small outboard tender through
open displacement craft to high powered, high speed planning
craft. Every day the number of people driving powerboats
increases. These boat users range from professionals through
to various leisure boat users.
Obviously a powered craft can be dangerous because of the
high power available and safety and seamanship are of utmost
importance. UL Activity Centre has a professional teaching
programme to help powerboat users to advance quickly in
total safety. Our powerboat instructors are highly qualified
and proficient in handling and training.
Any programme can be built to suit any powerboat drivers’
needs but for set courses the syllabus of the National Powerboat
Scheme is followed. All certified courses are recognised
by the ISA
Special courses for watersports clubs, angling clubs, fishery
boards, fire brigades, police forces, rescue units, government
agencies and anybody using powered craft of any type can
be run at our base or at other locations in Ireland using
our own or other crafts. We can design and build a syllabus
to suit your needs using our tried and tested teaching methods.
Full details on request. All courses at UL Activity Centre
use a variety of powered craft.
Ashore: The shore-based sections of our
courses take place in fully equipped, dedicated classrooms
using the most up to date teaching methods and equipment.
Afloat: Our outdoor sessions are on Lough
Derg. A large lake 35miles long and 5 miles wide which offers
the wide variety of conditions and situations necessary
